Account Deletion & Data Management
We respect your right to control your data. Here's exactly how to delete your Waypoint account and what happens when you do.
What data we store
When you use Waypoint, we store the following information (see our Privacy Policy for the full detail):
Profile information
Name, email, bio, date of birth, gender, nationality, languages, interests, social links
Location (city)
Your current city and country, and the cities/dates of trips you add
Photos
Profile photos and plan/trip images
Messages
Direct and group-chat messages you send
Connections
Friends, friend requests, blocked users, and reports you submit
Plans & activities
Plans you create or join, and attendance
Subscription record
Your subscription status and an app-store transaction ID (never your card details)
Preferences
Privacy settings and meeting preferences
How to delete your account
In-app deletion
- βOpen the Waypoint app
- βGo to your Profile tab, then Settings
- βTap "Delete Account"
- βType DELETE to confirm
Email request
If you can't access the app, send a deletion request to:
βοΈsupport@usewaypoint.appInclude: your registered email, and the subject line "Account Deletion Request".
We verify the request comes from you and action it within 30 days (usually much sooner).
What happens when you delete
Cancel your subscription separately
Deleting your account or the app does not cancel a paid subscription. If you subscribe to Waypoint Premium or Founder, cancel it in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings to stop future charges.
Deletion timeline
Immediately
Your profile and account data are deleted from our active database.
Shortly after
Your photos stop being served in the app. Automatic erasure of the stored image files is being rolled out; until then, you can request manual removal by email.
As backups age out
Residual copies in our provider's encrypted backups roll off under its retention window and are not used to restore deleted accounts.
Want a copy of your data first?
Email us at support@usewaypoint.app with the subject "Data Export Request" from your registered email.
π§ We'll verify it's you and send a copy of your data within 30 days, as required by data-protection law.
Not ready to delete?
You can simply log out from Settings and come back any time β your data is kept. Please note that logging out keeps your profile visible to other users; to remove your profile, you need to delete your account.
